Singer Jack Vidgen sets record straight on gender identity after dressing in drag for night out
Former The Voice contestant Jack Vidgen has set the record straight on his gender identity after being flooded with countless messages from fans.
Speculation over the 24-year-old’s gender identity escalated when the singer was recently seen dressing up in drag, so he addressed the rumours in an Instagram Story.
“Anddd I’m a boy again. Thank you for your beautiful messages and comments. Tonight was so fun,” he said in a fresh-faced selfie shared over the weekend after dressing in drag to attend the housewarming of reality TV star Abbie Chatfield in Sydney.
“I’ve had like hundreds of messages asking if I’m trans. I’m not — I was just dressing up in drag with friends for fun for a night out.”
Vidgen also said while he enjoys getting all glammed up on occasion, he identifies as a gay man.
“Being trans is a beautiful thing though and I love that people are asking questions. My pronounces are he/him,” Vidgen added.
Vidgen publicly came out as gay in 2019, although some friends and family knew long before that.
“I came out a couple of years ago,” he said in 2019 on The Kyle and Jackie O about his decision to go public. “I got to that point where I was happy and accepting who I am and wanted to be able to share that. I was really fortunate, so many people have less fortunate situations.
